During the ABA Annual Meeting in , the theme for the year’s Law Student Division Work-A-Day was announced. The theme for 2011–12 is “Civil Gideon: Representation for All.”

The focus of this theme is to raise awareness of the issues low-income people face when trying to access civil courts. Among those issues are lack of access, lack of resources, and lack of knowledge, all of which combine to either keep indigent litigants, who cannot afford to hire counsel, out of court or prevent them from fully making use of the courts.

The Work-A-Day toolkit posted on the Division website lists various ideas for both short- and long-term ways each law school can organize events around the Work-A-Day theme. Visit the Work-A-Day website for more information.—Matthew Gorney
