Legal Career Chat

ABA Legal Career Central is hosting it’s second #LegalCareerChat, our new twitter chat series showcasing various practice areas, on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 2pm ET.

Our chat guest will be Jayne E. Juvan (@JayneJuvan), a partner in the Cleveland office of Roetzel & Andress. Log on to Twitter and follow the questions with hashtag #LegalCareerChat to discuss with Jayne what it’s like to practice in M&A and Corporate Governance and how she’s harnessed social media to make her practice fulfilling and engaging. She’ll share her experiences, tips for setting yourself up for your career, and answer a few questions from chat participants.

Jayne focuses her practice on mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance of clients in a vast range of industries. She is a recognized writer on trends in corporate governance, effective board oversight and shareholder engagement strategies in ALM’s Law.com and the New York Stock Exchange Governance Services’ Insights monthly newsletter. She serves as the co-chair of ABA’s Corporate Governance Publications Subcommittee, which publishes CGC In Sight, and covers corporate governance developments at the Securities and Exchange Commission, NYSE, NASDAQ and proxy advisory firms. Jayne also covers trends in global mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and economic growth and development on Twitter at www.twitter.com/jaynejuv….

Jayne’s passion for her practice led to considerable media attention and awards over the past several years. She was recently recognized on the Ethisphere 2016 List of Attorneys Who Matter, written about in Whitney Johnson’s book “Disrupt Yourself” and in the Harvard Business Review Article “What Do You Do Well That Others Don’t,” profiled in a Forbes ebook authored by Denise Restauri entitled Their Roaring Thirties: Brutally Honest Career Talk From Women Who Beat the Youth Trap, and she has offered business insights on Forbes.com on numerous occasions. In 2014, Crain’s Cleveland named her to the Forty Under 40 class. Fast Company recognized her as a thought leader in corporate social responsibility in 2010, and she received this recognition again in 2012 by BRANDfog. Corporate Board Member, a NYSE Euronext Company, and Mediaite, a Dan Abrams publication, have both published articles naming her as a leading resource for corporate governance. In 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2016, Super Lawyers listed her as a “Rising Star.” In 2009, Inside Business published a full-page profile about her and dubbed her a “legal eagle,” and, in 2008, Inside Business presented her with the 25 under 35 “Movers and Shakers” award.

A firm and community leader on the role of women in the workplace, Jayne serves as the chair and is the founder of the Roetzel Women of Success initiative. The Women of Success initiative is committed to the success of the firm’s female attorneys, and aspires to lead by example in developing the skills and talents of the firm’s women professionals and the female executives within the communities in which our firm practices. The Initiative works to obtain, retain, develop, promote, and nurture exceptional female attorneys as key components to the firm’s success.
