Law students, you have a little over a week to enter the ABA Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) Law Student Writing Competition!

The competition is open to any law school student in good academic standing, over the age of 18, who is a member of the American Bar Association Law Student Division at the time of the deadline date for submission. Only one entry may be submitted per entrant. The submission deadline for the American Bar Association Tort Trial & Insurance Law Student Writing Competition is May 1, 2017.

Law students who submit an article will be eligible for a number of prizes.

First prize includes $1,500 cash, airfare and hotel accommodations to the Section’s Annual Meeting in beautiful New York, New York, and possible publication in the prestigious ABA Tort Trial & Insurance Law Journal.

Second prize is $500 and an honorable mention in the section magazine; third prize is an honorable mention in the section magazine.

Papers submitted for law school course credit are also eligible.

Entries should be on a current topic in a legal area covered by one of the Section’s substantive law committees and should be of national interest, rather than state specific. The Section will interpret the scope of the subject broadly to ensure that the competition affords the greatest degree of flexibility in writing on these subject areas.

Visit the TIPS Standing Committee on Law Students page for complete instructions and guidelines.
